JOB FINDING PROCESS

(1) Consider if you want to work in the UK, and if so how much money you need to earn. If you are studying, do you have time to work as well?

(2) Check if you are allowed to work in the UK, and if so how many hours a week you can work. For certain types of work programme you may need to get a visa before coming to the UK. See: Work/Rules.

(3) Start searching for a job. For ideas of ways to look for part-time or full-time jobs, see: Work/Search.

(4) To apply for a job, you may need to create a British-style CV and write a covering letter. For help in doing this, see: Work/CV.

(5) You may be invited to one or more job interviews. To prepare yourself, see: Work/Interview.

(6) Once you have started working you have to adapt to the culture of the workplace and deal with issues such as tax. See: Work/Employment. You may need to open a bank account (see: Life/Money).
