2006 CHRISTMAS LIGHTS: Oxford Street

In 2006 the Oxford Street Christmas Lights ceremony was on Thursday 9 November 2006.
The ceremony took place on a balcony outside Selfridges, starting at 5:20pm and lasting 1 hour
The main presenters were Jamie Theakston and Harriet Scott from the radio station Heart 106.2.
There were performances by G4 and Andy Abraham (former X-Factor contestants).
Peter Andre and his wife Katie Price (formerly known as Jordan) sang several songs, including their Christmas single "A whole new world".
The lights were switched on by the pop group All Saints.

2006 CHRISTMAS LIGHTS: Regent Street

In 2006 the Regent Street Christmas Lights ceremony was on Tuesday 7 November 2006.
The theme of the lights is the new animated film Flushed Away (produced by Dreamworks and Aardman).
The lights were switched on at about 6:15pm by three of the actors whose voices are used in the film:
Ian McKellen (Toad), Andy Sirkis (Spike) and Shane Richie (Sid).
The ceremony was performed on a balcony outside Aquascutum.

2006 CHRISTMAS LIGHTS: Bond Street

The 2006 Bond Street lights were turned on by the actress Thandie Newton.
A girl who had been treated at Great Ormond's Street Hospital came on stage with Thandie.
Money raised by the event was donated to this children's charity.

2006 CHRISTMAS LIGHTS: Covent Garden

In 2006 the Covent Garden Christmas Lights ceremony was on Thursday 16 November 2006.
The ceremony took place in front on the West Piazza,outside St Paul's church.
The presenters were Debbie King (from the TV show Quizmania) and the Westminster Town Crier.
There were dancing and singing performances by students from the Pineapple Performing Arts School.
This was followed by the young choral group Angelis (produced by Simon Cowell).
There were songs from the musical Chicago, which is being performed at the Cambridge Theatre.
This was followed by songs from the musical The Lion King, which is being performed at the Lyceum Theatre.
Emma Bunton (a former member of the Spice Girls) sang "Two become one" and "Downtown".
Darren Bennett (her dancing partner in the TV show Strictly Come Dancing) also appeared.
This year Emma switched on the Christmas tree lights in Covent Garden.
