WATCHING SPORT

Many sports events are shown on television. There are special sports channels available by satellite or cable (known as Sky Sports).
As an alternative to watching events on your own television, you may enjoy seeing games in some pubs or sports bars.

PLAYING SPORTS

Some of the most popular sports in the UK are athletics, badminton, cricket, cycling, football (soccer), golf, hockey, netball, rugby, snooker/billiards/pool, squash, swimming and tennis.

You can find places to take part in these sports using UpMyStreet: http://www.upmystreet.com. Select Find My Nearest … , enter a postcode or town name, select Find by category and choose Sport & leisure then the appropriate sport. The nearest places will be listed first. Gyms, sports centres and sports clubs can also be found this way.

Sports centres, clubs and courses can also be found by using the "Get Active" link on the Sport England website: http://www.sportengland.org. From the dropdown box you can find information for all these sports:
