Photographs of the British athletes' parades following the Olympics and Paralympics



2008 GAMES

The photos below were taken on the day of the parade in London to celebrate the success of the athletes at the 2008 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in Beijing, China.

The British Olympic team (known as Team GB) won a total of 47 medals, including 19 golds. It came fourth in the medals table (after China, USA and Russia).
The Paralympic team won 102 medals, including 42 golds. It came second in the medals table (after China).

Spectators lined the route of the procession, which started near Mansion House and ended in Trafalgar Square.
In Trafalgar Square a large crowd gathered to watch as the athletes were introduced on stage.

2004 GAMES

The photos below were taken at the parade in London to celebrate the success of British athletes at the 2004 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in Athens, Greece (on Monday 18 October 2004).

The Olympic team (known as Team GB) won a total of 30 medals, including 9 golds.
The Paralympic team won 94 medals, including 35 golds. The team ended second to China in the medal table.

The procession started opposite the Ritz Hotel on Piccadilly and ended in Trafalgar Square.
