INTRODUCTION

Pearson Language Tests delivers a suite of English language proficiency tests called Pearson Tests of English (PTE). This currently includes the following products:

PTE ACADEMIC

PTE Academic is a computer-based academic English language test for non-native English speakers who want to study abroad. The test was introduced in October 2009.

When can test takers take PTE Academic?
You can register and schedule your test online, on a day and time that suits you.

What is the test format?
PTE Academic tests Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing skills in one three-hour test session.

Where can test takers take the test?
You can take PTE Academic through Pearson's global network of secure testing centres.

How do test takers access their scores?
You will be able to receive their results online typically within five business days from the date when you take the test.

How much does it cost?
PTE Academic costs between $150 USD and $210 USD depending on where you choose to take the test (prices in 2010).

Who accepts PTE Academic scores?
If you wish to use the test to demonstrate your level of English ability when applying for a course, check if the school/college/university accepts the qualification. You can decide how many institutions you want to be able to view your scores, with no additional fee.
