ENVIRONMENT

The town contains many gardens and parks (eg Sydney Gardens / Vicky Park).
The surrounding green hills provide beautiful views.
Traffic congestion is a problem, creating some pollution, especially in summer.

It is a relatively safe town. There is some begging, and drunken behaviour around the town centre.
In 2001/02 there were 9.6 offences of violence against people per 1,000 people, lower than the English average of 10.8.
In 2000, Bath was ranked the 268th most deprived out of the 354 districts in England.
